Challenge Cards

I have taken on two challenges with this one card. First is the sketch 47 by Kazan over at 2S4Y . The other is a color challenge #56 from The Pink Elephant. I must also give credit to Maria aka Momo for her video which inspired this peek-a-boo card. Please visit her blog for this and other great videos.

Now for the details on my card. I started with a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of green cardstock (basically a standard 8 1/2" x 11" cut in half portrait style). Next I scored the 11" at 2 3/4" from both the left and the right hand side.

The pattern paper is from DCWV Animal Crackers. I cut two pieces at 2 1/2" x 4" to layer on the front flaps and I cut another piece 5" x 4" to layer on the inside. I used the Doddlecharms cartridge to cut the leaf and shadow at 3 1/4".

The monkey and tree stamps are from Autumn Leaves Mindy's Zoo. The saying is from Inkadinkadoo Just Saying collection. Finally I added the gorgeous ribbon and the flower bauble from my stash of odds and ends.

Hope you enjoy the card as much as I enjoyed making it. Now.... who should I send it to? Have a blessed day!

Love Bird

Today I took on the challenge from 2S4Y: Kazan's Sketch 45.

I made a Valentine card for my Grandmother. I cut the bird from the Indie Art cart and pattern paper from the Bloom and Grow pack from My Mind's Eye. I used some stickles to make the bird shine. I embossed a vellum circle with my cuttlebug and wrapped some feathery type yarn around the outside of the card. I stamped the LOVE phrase on a leaf cut from a cuttlebug die.

Thanks for looking and have a blessed day.

A Note for You

Tonight I decided to check out the challenge on 2S4Y. Laura has provided a great sketch 42.

I decided to go with a black and white theme. I crumpled up some tissue paper and adhered it to white card stock. I used a Fiskars border punch on black cardstock and tied some ribbon from my stash. I used my cuttlebug to cut out the note and stamped the sentiment.
Thanks for looking and Happy New Year!

A Birdie Wedding

Last night I had the chance to visit with a cousin of mine. We enjoyed a meal and great conversation. Our plan was to scrapbook but we talked more than anything else. While we chatted I was able to make a card for a Bridal Shower I'll be attending in a few minutes.
I used Kazan's Sketch 35 as my guideline and I am quite pleased with the outcome. I used my Home Decor cricut cartridge to cut out the two birds and the branch. I embossed the bottom piece with my cuttlebug. I then puched out tiny flowers with a punch. After assembly I felt the card needed a little bling. (After all it is for a wedding.) I added the jewels for the center of the flowers and a little sparkle to the birds.

Time to Bloom

I have had a great week. With the start of new school year at a new school I was unsure of how things would go. I should have known that God would have it all in control and had placed me in a wonderful place. I am no longer getting lost as I go from my classroom to the office and I have enjoyed getting to know so many new people.

This morning I decided to drop in at some of my favorite blogs. (You can check them out on the toolbar to the right.) Of course I was challenged again by 2S4Y. Laura provided the sketch for this week.

While Shea and Fisher were off to the store and before the Sunday School picnic I had some time to relax and make a card.

As I was going through my scrap pile I found this fabulous green polka dot paper. I paired it with some green lace on brown card stock.

I used the Home Decor cartridge to cut out the filigree piece and backed it with a shadow. I also cut out the dragonfly from the same cart.

The circle chipboard piece was just the right size but the colors didn't match. That is when I spotted the metallic BLOOM sticker and it was just made to fit. I was then inspired to use soda can for the metal strip which I embossed with my cuttlebug. I used some flowers and a square jeweled brad to accent the bottom corner. I love the way the colors came together. Enjoy and thanks for looking!

Kazan's Sketch 33

There are some beautiful cards on the 2 Sketches 4 You site inspired by Kazan's sketch. I decided to try my hand at creating a card based on her design.

I used my cuttlebug to emboss the background card and then highlighted the raised images by dabbing my ink pad straight onto the paper. Next, I used my 'victorian' decorative scissors to cut the border on the gorgeous rose paper I found in my stash.

The butterfly has become one of my favorites acrylic stamps. I cut a circle and then trimmed the bottom. I stamped the butterfly on it and distressed the edges. Finally, I added ribbon and buttons. It was a great way to spend some time this morning before Fisher wakes up. Have a blessed day!

2S4Y Sketch 28

As soon as I saw Laura's sketch I automatically thought of windows. I used a template to cut out the two windows, stamped the roses and butterfly with Staz On black ink, and then used glitter to color the images.

I enjoyed making this card because I used items I have had for years but rarely use. The rose set is from one of the first Hero Arts sets I purchased when I first started stamping 1o years ago. Don't you just love the sentiment???

Hope you enjoy the card. Thanks to Laura for the inspiration.

2 Sketches 4 You 1st Anniversary

2 Sketches 4 You is celebrating their 1st anniversary with the Ultimate Card Showdown. With this being the last full week of school I have been swamped. Today I got the chance to sit down and create. Ahhhhhh.....

So here is my take on the sketch. The vintage girl is from the Florals & Nature book by Memories for a Lifetime. I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the metal background. I added some pretty paper flowers and used metal brads for the centers.

Here is the next layer.
